The Electro Plating & Polishing Works

The Electro Plating & Polishing Works is located on the first floor of Rydham Complex. We are right near the petrol pump on Politechnic Road in the Ambawadi area. It’s a busy spot, and finding a place to park your scooter can be a real headache. Our workshop is where all the actual labor happens. Electroplating is a bit of a messy process, so the floor always has some marks on it and there’s a distinct smell of chemicals and metal in the air. We have various tanks and polishing wheels set up along the walls. Most of the staff here have very stained hands because they’ve been working with metal for so long. We take in all sorts of pieces that need a new finish or a good polish. It’s not quiet work; there is always the humming of the machines and the sound of metal hitting metal. The complex itself is quite old, and we’ve been here for a long time. Customers usually just walk in with a bag of parts and ask if we can make them look shiny again. We don't use any high-tech systems for tracking things; mostly it’s just notes written in a big diary kept on the main counter. We take our tea breaks together when the machines are cooling down. It’s a simple, local operation where everyone knows their job and we just get on with it without any fuss.
