Star Dyes & Intermediates. We are located at C-1/256 in Phase-II of the G.I.D.C. in Vatva. This part of the industrial estate is always humming with activity. We deal with dyes, so you can often see different colors on the floors or on our aprons by the end of the shift. The building has been around for a long time and it shows its age a bit, but it’s sturdy. We occupy both sections 1 and 2 of this plot. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized with the different batches we run. The sun hits the front of the building in the afternoon, making it quite bright. We usually keep the big shutters open to let the breeze in while we work. Most of us have been working in Vatva for years, so we know the people at the neighboring units. It’s a community of makers and laborers. We don't have fancy brochures or a big marketing team. It’s just us and the chemicals and the machinery. Some days are long, especially when we have a big order to get out. We have tea breaks together in the small shade outside. The G.I.D.C. roads can be bumpy, but we’re used to the commute. It’s a straightforward business. We just try to make sure the colors come out right and the intermediates are processed correctly without too much fuss. There is always a lot to clean up at the end of every day before we head home.
