Smatact Learning

I have been here at Parn Kunj Society in Meghaninagar for quite a while now. Most people know this part of Ahmedabad by the old houses and the small shops nearby. Smatact Learning isn't a big fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just room 33 in Part 1. I started helping out students because I saw they were struggling with their homework after school. Usually, the kids come in around four in the afternoon when it’s still hot outside. We have a few desks and some chairs that have seen better days, but they do the job. My neighbor from the society often drops by for tea while I am setting up the room. It’s a quiet spot most of the time, though the street gets noisy when the vegetable sellers pass by with their carts. I don't really have a big staff, just me and a couple of others who know their subjects well. We spend our evenings looking over textbooks and trying to make sense of the new syllabus together. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, so we just open the windows and keep going. It feels more like a home than a school, to be honest. People find us because their cousins or friends told them we are here. We don't have a big sign outside, just the one on the door. It has been a long journey from when we first opened our doors.
