Working across Plot No. 244-251 in Phase-2 of GIDC, Vatva, means we have a lot of ground to cover every day. Being a Co. Opt. Society Ltd. means things run a bit differently here at Green Environment Services than at a private shop. We spend a lot of time dealing with the practical side of environmental management, which usually involves a lot of pipes, tanks, and monitoring equipment spread out over our various plots. The air in Vatva can be heavy, and our job is basically to deal with the stuff that nobody else wants to think about. Our gates are always open for the tankers coming in and out, and there is a lot of mud around the yard when it rains. The office is a bit of a maze with all the files we have to keep for the various regulations we follow. It isn’t glamorous work, and we often go home with our clothes smelling like the industrial processes we handle. We have a lot of members to answer to, so the paperwork never really seems to end. Most of us have been here for years, so we know every corner of these plots. It’s a big responsibility, but we just take it one shift at a time, making sure the pumps are running and the levels are where they should be. It is a lot of walking back and forth between the different sections and checking the valves regularly.
