Shri H K Arts College

Our college is right on Ashram Road, across from the Handloom House in Navrangpura. It’s a very central part of Ahmedabad, so there’s always people and cars moving around outside. We’ve been here for a long time. The building has that older feel to it, which we kind of like. It’s an arts college, so you’ll see students carrying around sketchbooks or talking about their literature assignments in the hallways. We don’t have a fancy corporate office or anything. It’s just us, the faculty, and the staff trying to keep things organized. The administrative office is usually busy with students checking their schedules or asking about exams. We spend a lot of time making sure the library is in order and the lecture halls are ready. It gets quite warm in Ahmedabad during the summer, so we’re always making sure the water coolers are full. Navrangpura is a good area to be in, even if parking is a bit of a headache sometimes. People know us as a regular place for higher studies. We don’t put on airs. It’s a practical environment. Students come here from all over Gujarat to finish their degrees. We see them in the mornings, drinking tea at the nearby stalls before heading in. It’s just a normal part of the local landscape. We do our jobs, the students do theirs, and the years just seem to roll by. It's a steady life for us here on Ashram Road.
