Sahara Steel

Sahara Steel is situated at Plot No. 3 in the Archana Industrial Estate. We’re right by the Ajit Mill Char Rasta and just across from the Bharat Bobin Mill in Rakhial. It’s a very industrial part of town, so there is always the smell of oil and the sound of machines running. Our plot is quite large but it’s mostly filled with steel beams and stacks of plates. The ground is uneven and we’ve got grease on just about everything we own. It’s a tough environment but it suits the work we do. We spend a lot of time outside in the yard, even when the weather isn't great. In the monsoon, the mud gets everywhere and it makes moving the heavy steel a real challenge. Rakhial is a busy place with lots of laborers and trucks coming in and out of the different estates. We try to keep things moving as best we can. There’s no fancy office here, just a small cabin where we keep the bills and take a seat when we can. We don’t bother much with how the place looks as long as the work gets done and the steel is where it needs to be. It’s a lot of physical labor and we go home pretty tired most nights. It’s just how it is working in an industrial estate like this one. We just lock the gates and head home when the sun goes down and the mill noises stop.
