S. S. Fastners

If you find yourself at C-17 in the Sarthi Complex, you’ve found S. S. Fastners. We aren’t in a big standalone factory, but this complex works out well for us. It’s a bit of a hub for small businesses. We spend our days surrounded by boxes and bins filled with all types of fasteners—bolts, nuts, screws, you name it. It’s a lot of counting and weighing. If someone needs a specific size, we have to go digging through the shelves to find it. The lighting in the back isn't the greatest, so we use a flashlight sometimes to make sure we’re grabbing the right bin. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy showroom. It's just a counter and a lot of storage. The Sarthi Complex can get pretty busy with deliveries, so there’s usually a truck or two blocking the way, but we’ve learned to work around it. People come to us when they’re building something and realized they’re short on supplies. We try to keep the common stuff in stock so nobody has to wait too long. We don't use any high-tech systems for everything; a lot of it is just written down in a ledger. It’s a simple way to run S. S. Fastners, but it’s worked for us so far. We just keep track of our inventory and try to be fair with everyone who walks in the door. That's really all there is to it most days.
