Poonam Fabrication

Poonam Fabrication is located near Vadasar Gota Jaspur, a bit of a distance from the main city center. The workshop is mostly open air with a tin roof that gets really loud when it rains during the monsoon. We have been working with metal for quite a while now, mostly doing small jobs for people in the neighborhood or for some of the bigger sites further out. There is always a pile of iron rods or sheets of steel leaning against the back wall. The floor is concrete and has plenty of marks from where we’ve dropped tools or heavy frames over the years. We spend the day cutting, grinding, and welding pieces together. The smell of burnt metal is pretty much stuck in our clothes by the time we head home. It is dusty work and we have a couple of old fans that don’t do much except move the warm air around. Usually, there are three of us here, and we take turns making sure the machinery is oiled and ready to go. We don't have a proper office, just a small table in the corner where we keep the bills and a notepad for taking down measurements. It is hard on the back and the hands, but we are used to it by now. The neighbors don't mind the noise too much since there are other shops like ours nearby and we try to finish up by sundown.
