Kusum Dyechem Pvt. Ltd. is tucked away at Plot No. A-1/329 in Phase-2 of GIDC, Vatva. If you know Vatva, you know it’s a maze of streets and industrial plots. Our place is right in the thick of it. We deal with dyes and chemicals, so there’s always some color on the floor or on our clothes by the end of the shift. It’s messy work, but someone has to do it. We have a small crew and we all know our roles. The machines we use have been with us for a while, and they need a bit of a kick sometimes to get going in the morning. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anyone to answer the phones with a script. Usually, whoever is closest to the phone just picks it up. We’re mostly focused on the vats and making sure the batches come out looking right. It’s a lot of waiting for things to dry or mix, followed by a lot of heavy lifting. We buy our lunch from the cart that comes around the estate every noon. It’s a good way to see what else is happening in Phase-2. We don’t really care about being the biggest company around. We just want to do our job at A-1/329 and go home to our families. It’s a decent living and we’ve been at it long enough that we don't know how to do anything else. We stay busy and keep moving.
