Out here on Ramol Road in Phase-1 of the GIDC Vatva area, things are always moving. This is where The Indian Hume Pipe Co. Ltd. operates from. If you’ve ever been to this part of Vatva, you know it’s mostly factories and big trucks. It’s a dusty place, and the sun hits the tin roofs pretty hard in the summer. We spend our time dealing with pipes and heavy construction materials. It’s physical work for the most part. The office is right there on the site, so we hear everything going on outside. We don't have much time for sitting around. There’s always a truck to load or a shipment to track. The roads around the GIDC can be a bit rough, especially after the rain, so getting things in and out takes a bit of patience. We’ve been at this for a long time. The crew knows the routine by heart now. We don't put on any airs; it’s just a group of people making sure these pipes get where they are supposed to go for the local projects. Sometimes the machinery acts up or a delivery is late, but we just deal with it. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We eat lunch together when we can find a quiet minute. It’s just the way life goes in the industrial belt where things are made and moved.
