Shanghai Colour Chem

Shanghai Colour Chem is tucked away at Plot No. C-1 88/5 in Phase-1, GIDC, Vatva. It’s one of those older sections of the industrial area where the roads are a bit narrow and the trees are surprisingly tall for such a busy place. Our office is right there on the ground level. We’ve had the same sign out front for a long time, and the letters are a bit faded from the sun now. Every morning starts with opening up the heavy shutters and letting some air in before it gets too hot. Phase-1 has a different feel than the newer phases; it feels a bit more settled. You can hear the neighbors working on their own stuff through the walls sometimes. We have a small area for visitors to sit, but it’s mostly filled with stacks of files and the usual office supplies. The mailman usually drops things off around noon, and that’s when we take a bit of a break. Dealing with the address Plot No. C-1 88/5 means we often have to give people directions over the phone while looking out the window at the passing scooters. It’s not a corporate headquarters with glass walls; it’s just a workspace in Vatva where we keep our heads down and do what needs to be done. The fans hum all day long to keep the air moving. It’s a simple life here in the industrial zone and we like the familiarity of the routine.
