P.B.Shah & Co. (Madras)

Our office is at No.182, Linghi Chetty Street. If you’ve ever walked down this street in Madras, you know how narrow and crowded it gets. It’s one of those old parts of the city where every building has a story. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building shows its age, but it works for us. Inside, it’s mostly stacks of ledgers and old wooden desks. We handle trading and various bits of business that come our way. It isn't a high-tech setup. We still prefer writing things down and talking to people face to face. The street outside is always noisy with carts, bikes, and people rushing about. Sometimes it’s hard to even hear the phone, but you get used to it. We don’t have a big sign outside or a lobby with air conditioning. It’s just P.B.Shah & Co., doing what we’ve always done. Most of our regulars have been coming to us for years. They know exactly where to find us in this maze of streets. We have tea twice a day, usually brought in from the small shop around the corner. It’s a very traditional way of working, I suppose. No big corporate meetings, just us sitting around the table figuring out the day's tasks. It’s not fancy, but it is home for us during the work hours. We keep things moving at our own pace without needing all the extra noise.
