Our office, number 241, is inside the New Cloth Market just outside Raipur Get. If you know the market, you know it’s a chaotic place with people carrying bundles of fabric and trucks trying to squeeze through the gates. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. It’s a small office, but it’s right where the action is for the textile and dye business. We spend our time talking to traders and making sure they have the dyes and chemicals they need for their fabrics. There’s always a smell of new cloth and dye in the air around here. The office itself is usually cluttered with samples and order forms. We don’t have much time for sitting around. Most of the day is spent on our feet or on the phone. It gets really loud during peak market hours, so we have to shout a bit to be heard. We’ve made a lot of friends in the market over the years. It’s a tight-knit community of shopkeepers and wholesalers. We don’t put on any airs about what we do. We’re just here to provide the chemicals that keep the cloth trade moving. Sometimes we stay late to finish up the books, especially when the market is particularly busy. It’s a tiring job but it feels good to be right in the middle of everything at Raipur Get. We just keep the lights on and the door open.
