Olive Green International School

You can find us on Bhadaj Road in the Sola area of Ahmedabad. It’s a growing part of the city, so there is always some construction or noise nearby. Olive Green International School is where we spend most of our waking hours. The building is pretty simple, and we try to keep the plants near the entrance alive, though the heat makes it hard sometimes. I usually start the day by checking the emails and seeing if any of the parents called late last night. We don’t have a fancy reception desk with a dozen people; it’s usually just one or two of us handling everything. The classrooms are filled with the usual stuff—desks, boards, and cupboards. We don’t go for anything too flashy because we think the basics are what really matter. Sometimes the internet goes down, or the water cooler needs fixing, and we just deal with it. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. The teachers are mostly locals who live nearby and walk or drive a short way to get here. We all know each other’s names and whose kid is whose. It’s not a big corporate machine. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to make sure things are organized for the students. We spend our afternoons finishing up paperwork and making sure the lights are off before we head home for the evening.
