Raj Metal Industries

Over at No.-97 on Road No.-15 in Odhav G.I.D.C., you’ll find our place, Raj Metal Industries. We are right opposite Ambika Nagar, which is a good landmark if you’re looking for us. The area is full of factories and workshops, so there’s always the sound of metal clanging or trucks reversing. We work with various types of metal, cutting and shaping them according to what’s needed. It’s a dusty job, and we usually end the day with grease on our clothes. We’ve been in this shed for years. It’s got high ceilings and a lot of heavy machinery that we’ve learned to fix ourselves when they act up. We don't have any corporate slogans or a marketing department. We just have our tools and our hands. A lot of our work comes from other businesses in the G.I.D.C. who need specific parts. We spend a lot of time looking at blueprints or just rough sketches on scraps of paper. It gets very hot during the middle of the day, especially when the machines have been running for hours. We usually take a long lunch break when it’s at its peak. It’s a no-nonsense kind of life. We focus on the quality of the metal and the precision of the work. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing, so we all know the struggle of the daily commute and the heat. It’s just how things are here in Odhav.
