Alankar Metals

You can find Alankar Metals at Plot No. 107 in the Vijay Industrial Estate, right behind Bhikshuk Gruh. It is a bit tucked away, so you have to look for the blue gate. We work with all kinds of metal sheets and rods. There is always the sound of hammers or cutters going on in the background. It is a loud place to work, but you get used to it after a while. We started out with very little and just slowly built things up. Our office is basically just a desk pushed into a corner near the main door. It’s where we keep the invoices and the old landline phone that rings too loud. We don’t use any high-tech software for our work. We mostly rely on experience and a good set of calipers. The guys on the floor are hard workers and they don’t mind getting their hands dirty. We usually have a bit of a laugh during lunch when we sit outside the workshop. We don't have a big corporate story to tell. We are just a local metal shop doing our best to get the orders right. Sometimes we have to redo a piece if it’s not sitting right, which takes time, but it’s better than sending out bad work. The floor is made of hard concrete and it’s seen a lot of heavy lifting over the years. We just keep at it.
