Our office for Nokia Siemens Networks is tucked away in the Tirthdham Apartments over in Bodakdev. It is right near Devashish School, so in the mornings and mid-afternoons, you can always hear the kids and the buses outside. Ahmedabad traffic can be a real headache in this area, but once you’re inside the apartment, it’s mostly quiet and we can get to work. We’ve set up our equipment and desks in one of the ground floor units. It feels more like a home than a big polished office, but that works fine for us. We spend most of our time dealing with network cables and technical gear. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when the whole team is in at once, but we manage to stay out of each other's way. There’s a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from looking at the screens. The light in the office is okay, though we usually keep the blinds pulled down when the Gujarat sun gets too sharp in the afternoon. We don’t have a big reception area or a glowing sign out front. Most people coming here already know where we are. We just handle the technical bits and pieces that keep the systems running. It’s a lot of sitting and monitoring connections. We keep things simple here. It’s not a fancy corporate floor with marble tiles, just a regular space in Bodakdev where we get our daily work done.
