Our place is over in Narol, right in the Sudama Estate. We actually take up three units there, numbers 44, 45, and 46. It’s right across from the Gokulesh Petrol Pump, which is where most people tell the rickshaw drivers to stop. The Indian Picture House is also nearby, so it’s a pretty well-known spot in this part of Ahmedabad. Inside, we mostly deal with dyestuffs and different chemicals used for coloring. There are always big bags of powder stacked up against the walls. The floors get stained with different colors over time, which I guess is just part of the job here. It gets very dusty and the smell of the dyes is quite strong if you aren't used to it. We have a small group of guys who handle the mixing and the packing. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when we have big orders going out to the local textile mills. We usually have our lunch together in the small break area toward the back. The fans are always running but it still gets quite warm because of the machines and the Ahmedabad sun. We’ve been in this estate for a long time and know most of the other business owners around here. We don't have a big corporate office, just a small desk where we handle the billing and talk to the transporters who come to pick up the goods.
