Our shop is located at 8, Portuguese Church Street. It’s a narrow street with a lot of history, and you can see the old church right there, which is where the name of the road comes from. We deal with dyes and chemicals, so the shop often smells a bit sharp, but we’ve grown used to it over the years. Modi Dyechem isn't a big corporation; we’re just a local business that’s been serving the area for a long time. The building is quite old, like most of the structures around here, with thick walls and high ceilings. We have sacks and jars of different powders stacked up everywhere. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you don’t know where things are kept. Every morning we sweep the front step and wait for the first customers to arrive. Usually, it’s people from the local textile shops or small factories looking for specific colors. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions on the scales and packing them into bags. The street is too narrow for big trucks, so everything has to be brought in by handcarts or small vans. It’s a lot of manual work, and it gets dusty, but it’s what we know how to do. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people just know to come to number 8 when they need chemicals for their business.
