Mahesh Scrap

Our yard is located at No. 27 in Annapurna State. We are right in the middle of Satyam Nagar, specifically near the Nagarvel Hanuman Mandir in Amraiwadi. Working in the scrap business means we see a lot of things people don't want anymore. Every day, trucks come in with loads of iron, old pipes, and copper bits. We spend a lot of time sorting through it all on the ground. It’s heavy, dirty work, but someone has to do it. The sun can get really hot out in the yard since we don't have much shade over the scrap piles. We use a big scale to weigh everything that comes through. The temple nearby is a nice landmark because people often get confused with the small lanes in Amraiwadi. We’ve been at this spot for quite a few years now. The neighbors are mostly other traders and small workshops, so we all know each other. We don't have a website or any fancy advertisements. People just know where we are and bring their old metal to us. It’s a simple way to live. We drink our water from the clay pot in the corner and keep an eye on the gate. Sometimes we get old machinery that takes hours to break down into smaller parts. We just take it one pile at a time. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do here at the yard. There’s always more scrap coming in, so we stay busy.
