Krishna Fabrication

The shop is located over here at No. 122/958 in the Gujarat Housing Board area, right near the Hatkeshwar Police Chowki. If you ever come by Khokhra, you will probably hear us before you see us. There is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the loud buzz of the welding machine going off. It gets really hot in here, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the corrugated shed. I have been working here a long time now, and the floor is covered in scrap bits and iron shavings that we sweep up at the end of the day. It is a messy job, fabrication is just like that. We don't have fancy office chairs or air conditioning. We just have our tools and some heavy work tables that have seen better days. Sometimes the neighbors from the housing board pop their heads in to ask for a small fix on a gate or a window frame. The police chowki is just down the way, so it stays pretty orderly on this street. My hands are usually stained with grease or soot, but that is part of the trade. We don't put on any acts here. It is just straight work, cutting and joining pieces until they look like something useful. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that is usually the highlight of the afternoon. It is a simple life, making things out of steel and iron in this little corner of Hatkeshwar.
