Shyam Life Science

Shyam Life Science is out on the Bavla Highway, specifically at Plot No. 406/407 in the Kerala GIDC. The commute out here can be a bit long depending on the traffic, but once you get inside the gates, it is a different world. Because we handle life science products, we have to keep the place much cleaner than the other units around us. We spend a lot of time mopping the floors and making sure the dust stays out. It is a bit of a struggle since the highway is right there with all those trucks kicking up dirt. Inside, it is mostly quiet except for the hum of the air conditioning. We wear white coats and hairnets for most of the shift, which felt strange at first but now it is just our uniform. The lab benches are usually covered with glass jars and testing equipment. We don’t really have a big sales team; we just focus on the batches we are running. Sometimes we stay late when a test needs more time to finish. The canteen nearby makes decent tea, which is where you can find us during the mid-morning break. We aren’t trying to change the world or anything, we just want to make sure the products we send out are exactly what they are supposed to be. It is careful work, and we take it seriously. The highway noise is always there in the background.
