Jay Ambe Metals

Jay Ambe Metals is located at Ashwamegh Estate in Changodar G.I.D.C. If you know the area, you know it’s mostly factories and a lot of trucks moving around all day. Our unit at number 26 is where we spend all our time. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and there’s always the sound of machines running in the background. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, but we just keep the fans going and get on with the job. We deal with different types of metal parts and pieces. It’s heavy work and your hands get dirty within the first five minutes of the shift. We’ve been at this spot for a good number of years. Most of the guys working here have been around since the start. We know the neighbors in the estate and sometimes borrow tools from each other when something breaks. Lunch is usually brought from home in steel boxes and eaten quickly before getting back to the machines. There’s no big office here, just a small cabin where we keep the bills, some files, and the phone. We don't do much advertising because the work usually keeps us busy enough throughout the week. Changodar is a dusty place but it’s where the work happens. We make sure the orders are ready when the trucks show up for pickup. It’s a straightforward business and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is.
