Ganesh Steel Works (Odhav)

We have been sitting here in Odhav on Ambica Nagar Road for quite a long time now. If you know the area, we are just opposite the Ghanshayam Foundry. It is a busy part of town with lots of trucks and noise all day. Being near Aapa Hotel is nice because there is always some tea or a quick bite nearby when the work gets heavy. Our daily routine is mostly about handling steel and metal. It is not fancy work. We spend most of our mornings moving heavy pipes or sheets around the shop. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and the air smells like iron. Sometimes the machines are loud and we can not even hear each other talk. It is just how things are here. We do not have a big office or anything, just the workspace where we get things done. People from around the neighborhood stop by with different metal jobs they need sorted. We take a look and see what can be done with the tools we have. Some days are slower than others but there is always something to clean or move. We do not really spend time on fancy talk. We just focus on the steel in front of us. It gets pretty dusty in the summer and cold in the winters but we keep the doors open. That is pretty much how it goes for us every day in Odhav. We just keep working until it is time to close up.
