Karan Sales Corporation

You can find Karan Sales Corporation over at Shop No 1827 in Pada Pole, right off Gandhi Road in Ahmedabad. If you’ve ever walked through the old city areas, you know how narrow and crowded it gets. It is a lively place to be, though. The shop is tucked away in one of those traditional poles that give Ahmedabad its character. We spend a lot of time just managing the space because it is an old building and things can get tight. Our day starts early, usually before the main heat of the afternoon hits. Gandhi Road is always humming with noise—honking cars, people shouting, and the general sound of commerce. We handle a lot of sales from this small base. Boxes come in from the main road and we have to haul them down the lane to get them inside. It is hard work but it keeps us busy. The walls inside the shop are lined with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes we have to use a shaky ladder to reach the top ones. It isn't a fancy showroom with glass displays. It is a working shop where we keep the records in big ledgers and talk to customers who have been coming to this area for years. It feels like we are part of the history of the neighborhood here. We just do our business and try to stay organized.
