First Step Institute

First Step Institute is located in the basement of Siddhpura Complex in Maninagar. If you are looking for us, we are right across from the Axis Bank near Krishna Baug. Being in a basement means it stays a bit cooler during the hot Ahmedabad months, which is a big relief for everyone. The stairs down are a little narrow, and you have to watch your head if you are tall. We have been in this spot for a while now. The space is filled with desks and a lot of old folders. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know where everything is. We spend our time teaching and answering questions. People drop in throughout the day, sometimes just to check the schedule or pick up some notes they missed. We don't have any big marketing budgets, so we rely on the people who live nearby. There is a small snack shop nearby where we get tea, and sometimes the smell of fried food drifts down to us. It’s a very grounded atmosphere. We don't use big words or try to act more important than we are. We are just teachers and staff trying to help people take that first step in their learning. Some of the chairs are a bit old and squeak when you sit down, but they do the job just fine. It’s a practical, local place for students to come and put in some hard work without any distractions from the outside world.
