Ecoright Bags

The workshop is located right here at A4 in Mohan Estate, which is just across from the Anupam Theatre. It’s a busy part of Ahmedabad, especially in the afternoons when the traffic gets heavy. We’ve been making bags here for a bit, mostly working with fabrics like cotton and jute. It’s not a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a place where we have the cutting tables and the sewing machines set up. The floors are usually covered in small scraps of cloth by the end of the day. Khokhra is a practical place to be because we are close to the markets. Usually, we are just busy checking the stitching on the handles or making sure the printing looks okay. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, so we keep the fans going at full speed. Sometimes we have a lot of orders piled up near the door waiting for the delivery trucks. We don't spend much time on fancy talk; we just focus on getting the bags packed into boxes. Each of us has a specific job to do, whether it’s checking the seams or folding the finished pieces. It’s a straightforward setup. Most of the people who work here have been doing this for years, so we all know the routine pretty well by now. We just try to get through the daily list and head home.
