Asha Trading

Asha Trading is tucked away in Village Matawan Kuan. We are right there in the village, near the post, in the Kalol taluka. Being in Gandhi Nagar district, we are far enough from the city to have some peace. Our shop is a basic place where we trade what people need. It’s not a supermarket. It’s more of a place where you come to find something specific and stay for a chat. The floor is concrete and the shelves are made of wood we put up ourselves. Sometimes we run out of stock and have to wait for the truck from the city, and everyone just has to be patient. That is just how life goes here. We know everyone's name in Matawan Kuan. We know who is getting married and whose son is moving away. It’s a community thing more than just a business. We don't have a marketing plan or any of that stuff. We just open the doors in the morning and see who comes by. The sun sets behind the fields across the road, and that’s usually when we start locking up. It’s a steady life. We don’t try to be anything we are not. We are just Asha Trading, sitting in the same spot for years, helping out the village folk whenever they need a trade done. Sometimes we have a small radio playing, but mostly it is just the sounds of the village and our own conversations.
