Anil Fabrications (Gheekanta Road)

We are located in one of the many narrow lanes of Gheekanta Road. Specifically, we are at 672 Panchbhai`s Pole Dhal, inside Ghanchi`s Khadki. If you know these poles, you know they are very old and very tight. You can't really bring a big car in here. We do fabrication work, which means a lot of iron and steel getting welded together. It’s a traditional way of working. Most of our tools have been with us for years. We make window grills, safety doors, and small railings for the houses around here. Because the space is small, we often have to do the final touches right out on the edge of the lane. It’s a noisy business with the sound of hammers hitting metal echoing off the old walls. People living in the pole know us well. They hear us working throughout the day. We don't have a website or any of that new stuff. People just walk in because they saw a grill we made for their neighbor. It’s a lot of sparks and smoke sometimes, but that’s just how fabrication goes. The floor is always covered in metal scraps and we have to be careful where we step. We aren't looking to be the biggest shop in Ahmedabad. We just like doing a good day’s work in the same place our family has been for years.
