Aakar Steel Works

Aakar Steel Works is tucked away in Chirag Estate, right behind Revabhai Estate in Amraiwadi. It’s a busy spot. Most days start early here because the heat in Amraiwadi gets pretty bad by noon. We’ve been at 119-1 for a good while now. The noise of metal is just part of the background. Sometimes it’s hard for people to find us the first time since the estate is a bit of a maze, but once you see the sign near the back, you’re there. The floor is usually covered in scrap and tools. It isn't a fancy place. We don't have a big reception or anything. Just the workshop and a small corner where we keep the papers. It’s mostly just us working through the orders as they come. You can hear the machines from the street. The neighbors are mostly other small shops and workshops like ours. We get the tea from the stall at the corner of the estate twice a day. It’s a simple routine. We handle a lot of different steel parts. Some days are slower, but usually, there’s enough to keep the guys busy until the sun goes down. Amraiwadi is an industrial area, so there’s always trucks moving around. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s not a corporate office. It’s just a place where things get made.
