Aai Kurpa Steel

We are based in Rakhiyal, which is a very industrial and busy part of the city. Our place is basically a big open yard where we keep the steel. It is very dusty and there is always the sound of metal clanging against metal. We don't have a proper office building, just a small cabin made of brick and cement at the corner of the lot. Inside, there’s a heavy desk, some chairs for visitors, and a big cupboard for all the accounts books. We deal with different types of steel, so there are piles of rods and sheets everywhere. You have to be careful where you walk so you don't trip on anything. The sun hits the yard pretty hard, so we spend most of our time in the shade of the cabin or under the tin roof section. We don't really do any marketing or fancy ads. People around here just know us and they come by when they need material. We use a lot of manual labor to move the smaller pieces, and we have a crane for the big stuff. The ground is covered in iron filings and dirt. It’s a rough place to work, especially in the summer, but we’ve been here a long time. We drink water from the big earthen pot in the corner and just keep things moving along day after day.
