Our school is located on Gwalior Road in the Kakua area, which is on the edge of Agra. Since it is further out, there are more open fields around us than in the city center. It is a Zilla Parishad school, which means it is a government-run facility. The building is very plain and has been here for a long time. We have just a few classrooms and the benches are quite worn out. We don't have a big budget for repairs or new things. Most of the kids who come here are from the farming families in the Kakua area. They often walk quite a way to get to school every morning. We don't have a proper playground, just a patch of dirt where the kids play during their breaks. When it is hot, we rely on the ceiling fans and the open doors. The teachers handle everything from teaching to managing the records. We don't have any computers or fancy labs. It is just old-fashioned learning with books and pencils. Sometimes the water pump acts up and we have to get someone to fix it. We don't do any advertising. The people in the village know where we are and what we do. It is a simple, hardworking place for the local children to get their basic schooling. Life out here moves at its own pace and we just keep the doors open through the seasons. We aren't looking for attention, just doing the work that needs doing.
