G.D. Convent Public School

G.D. Convent Public School is tucked away in a residential part of Agra. It is a place that has been part of the local scene for quite some time. The school is not near any of the big tourist spots; it is where the actual residents of Agra live their daily lives. The building is a simple concrete structure with several rooms for the different classes. We have a small metal gate at the entrance where the kids wait in the morning. It is a bit of a tight squeeze when the rickshaws pull up to drop everyone off. Inside, the rooms are filled with wooden benches and desks that have been used by many students over the years. We have a small office near the front door where we keep all the records and files. The teachers are mostly women from the surrounding area who have been working with us for a while. We do not have a big green lawn, just a paved area where the kids can run around a bit during their lunch break. During the summer, it gets really hot, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as possible with fans. It is a noisy place during the day, which is what you expect when you have so many kids in one spot. We just focus on getting through the books and making sure the building stays in decent shape. It is a modest school for regular families who live in Agra. We know most parents by sight.
