Shivani Beautyparlor

Our little shop is located in Devi Market, over in the Jogipara section of Shahganj. If you know the area, it's pretty easy to find once you get into the market area. It is a busy place. This is especially true during the festival months. Every woman in Agra seems to want her henna done at the same time then. I run the parlor with one other girl who helps me when things get hectic. We have been in this spot for several years now. The neighbors in the market are all like family to us. The space is small. We just have a few chairs and a table for the tools. It gets the job done well enough. We do a lot of eyebrows and face threading. That is what most people need on a weekly basis. The walls are painted a light color to make it feel a bit bigger. The paint is peeling a little in the corner near the sink where the water splashes. We don't have any fancy machines. We just use the usual stuff like blow dryers and wax heaters. Some days are slow. We just sit and watch the people go by in Devi Market. Other days, we don't even have time to eat our lunch until late in the evening. It’s an honest living. We enjoy talking to the ladies who come in to share their stories. Shahganj is a good place to be for a small business like ours.
