Sainik Inter College is situated in a place called Jaitpur Kalan, which is part of the Bah area near Agra. It’s quite a way out from the main city and the Taj Mahal. Around here, things are much more rural. The school is a simple brick structure that sits among the fields. Many of our students come from the nearby villages, often walking long distances or riding their bicycles on the dirt paths. Because it’s a Sainik school, there is a bit more focus on staying active. We have a big open field where the students do their exercises and play sports. It’s not a fancy sports ground, just a flat patch of land. The classrooms are basic with wooden benches that have been used by many generations of students. We don’t have air conditioning or anything like that. We just open the windows and hope for a breeze. The teachers here are used to the quiet life of Jaitpur. We spend our days teaching the local kids and helping them get through their exams. It’s a very honest kind of place. There is no pretense here. We just want the kids to learn something useful. When the harvest season comes, sometimes the attendance drops a bit because families need help, but that’s just how life is in this part of Agra. We take it as it comes and keep the school running every single day.
