Saai Herbal Beauty Parlour

If you go to the Raja Mandi area in Agra and look for the Goel Petha Store, you will find Saai Herbal Beauty Parlour right nearby. We are located in the Main Bazar, which is always packed with people and carts. The shop is on the first floor, so you have to walk up a narrow set of stairs to reach us. It’s a busy little place. Since we are in a herbal parlour, we use a lot of natural powders and pastes that we mix ourselves. The smell of sandalwood and rose water is usually the first thing you notice when you walk in. The space is divided into small sections with curtains. I have two girls who help me with the clients. We do a lot of facials and henna designs here. The floors are tiled but they get dirty quickly because of the bazaar dust coming in through the windows. We try to sweep it often. The water pressure is sometimes low, especially in the afternoons, so we keep buckets ready just in case. It’s a traditional kind of setup. Most of our customers are women who are out doing their regular shopping in Raja Mandi and decide to stop by for a quick threading or to get their hair braided. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are by word of mouth. The building is old and the stairs are steep, but we make it work every day.
