S Kumar & Son

You can find S Kumar & Son at No.176 in the Moti Ganj area. We are right by Gandhi Park, which is a nice spot to be near, though it gets quite busy. Thana Chatta is also close by, so it’s a well-known part of the neighborhood. This is a family thing, passed down through the years. My son and I handle most of the work ourselves. We keep the shop open six days a week, and usually, someone is here even on Sundays if there’s work to finish. The building is old, with high ceilings and walls that could use a new coat of paint, but it serves its purpose. We deal with a lot of regulars who have been coming to us for a long time. They know where we sit and how we work. It’s not a high-tech operation at all. We use paper ledgers mostly and do our calculations by hand. Moti Ganj is a tight-knit place, and we like being part of it. The morning starts with clearing the dust and setting out the day’s work. There’s always something to organize or a customer to chat with about their needs. We don’t do much advertising; people just find us or hear about us from their neighbors. It’s a simple life, and we like it that way. We just focus on what’s in front of us and try to stay busy enough to keep things going day after day.
