Out here in Shaheed Nagar, specifically at Shop Number 21 in Durga Complex, we spend most of our days. It’s a busy little spot in Rajpur, especially being so close to Upadhyay Hospital. You see all sorts of people walking by all day long. The salon itself isn't huge, but we make the space work. We have these black chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. The floor is tiled, and we try to keep it clean, but hair gets everywhere pretty fast. In the mornings, the sun hits the front glass just right. Agra summers are tough, so we rely on the cooler to keep things decent inside. It’s mostly regular guys from the neighborhood who come in. We know their names and how they like things done without them having to say much. There’s a small TV in the corner that’s usually on a news channel or showing some old movie, mostly for background noise while the scissors are clicking away. We keep our combs in jars of blue liquid and the capes hanging on hooks by the wall. It’s just a normal workplace where we get on with the job. No one is in a rush here usually. We take our tea breaks when the shop is quiet and watch the traffic move along the main road outside.
