Nikharika Beauty Parlour

Dayal Bagh is a unique part of Agra, and we are right in the Main Market area. Nikharika Beauty Parlour is the name on the board outside. If you are looking for us, we are right in the middle of the 282005 area. The market is always buzzing with people buying things, and the noise is just part of our daily life. I like the energy of being in the main market. Our shop is not very wide, but it goes back deep. We have the workstations set up along the sides. I usually spend the first part of my morning setting out the combs and making sure the capes are folded. The mirrors are old and have a few spots on the edges, but they show the truth. Working in Agra, you get used to the heat, so we have a couple of coolers that we keep running. It is a basic place for the local women to come. We don't use any of those big corporate words to describe what we do. It is just a beauty parlour in a market. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the stall across the road, and we sit for five minutes when it’s quiet. The floor is made of old stone, and it stays relatively cool. I have been here for a long time, and the shop feels like a second home. We just focus on the people who walk through the door.
