Neeraj Hair Salons

This shop is right in the Main Market area of Arhan in Agra. It’s a very crowded part of town, and there’s always something going on outside our door. We’ve been cutting hair here for a long time now. The shop is narrow, with mirrors on both sides to make it look a bit bigger than it actually is. We have these old-fashioned chairs that are heavy and hard to move, but they’ve lasted a long time. The floor is tile, and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. In Agra, it gets really hot in the summer, so we keep the door open to catch whatever breeze comes through the market. You can hear the vendors shouting outside and the cows occasionally wandering past. It’s a very lively place to be. We don't have a big menu of services. We just do hair, shaves, and maybe a head massage if someone is feeling tired. We know most of the families around here, and we’ve seen the kids grow up and start bringing their own children. It’s a simple life. We start early in the morning and stay until the market starts to quiet down at night. There isn't anything corporate about us; we’re just local people doing a job we’ve done for a long time in a place we know well.
