Naushad Men Saloon

Naushad Men Saloon is tucked away on Purani Mandi Road in the Taj Ganj area of Agra. If you know where the Nagar Nigam School is, we are right near there, close to the Tanga Stand. It is a very old part of the city with narrow lanes and lots of people moving about all day. My shop is small but I have worked here for years. You can hear the sounds of the tongas and the school bells while I work. I mostly do haircuts and shaves for the local men who live around here. Some of them have been coming to me since they were kids. Agra gets very dusty, so a good head wash is what most people ask for after a long day of work. I use basic tools, nothing too modern or complicated. The chairs are old but sturdy. I usually sit outside on a stool when there are no customers, watching the traffic go by. It’s a loud neighborhood but I am used to it now. During the festivals, the shop gets really crowded and people have to wait their turn on the bench outside. I don't use any fancy flyers or ads to get people in. They just know where I am because I’ve been at this spot for so long. It is just me and my scissors most of the time. Working in Taj Ganj feels like being part of a big family where everyone knows your name.
