We are set up at Maruti Estate in Prem Nagar, quite close to the Maruti Estate Crossing. It’s a handy location because people can find us easily when they are heading into town. We keep all the basic stuff you need for building things, like cement bags, sand piles, and stacks of bricks. The yard is usually a bit of a mess with trucks backing in and out to drop off loads. It’s a noisy place, especially when the loaders are busy. We don’t have a fancy office, just a small desk where we keep the ledger and handle the cash. Most of our customers are local builders or people trying to fix up their own houses. We’ve seen Prem Nagar change quite a bit over the years as more houses go up. The dust from the sand and cement is part of the job, so we don’t really mind it much anymore. Sometimes a customer comes in looking for something specific we don’t have, and we just tell them straight. We don’t like to waste people’s time. The crossing nearby gets jammed up in the evenings, so we try to get our deliveries out early if we can. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time without much fuss. We just focus on keeping the stock full and helping the people who come by.
