Kanika Ladies Corner & Beauty Parlour

My shop, Kanika Ladies Corner & Beauty Parlour, is tucked into the Kamal Complex right at Shastripuram Chauraha. If you know the Shastripuram area in Agra, you’ve probably walked past the complex many times. It is a busy intersection, so there is always noise and people moving about. We handle a mix of things here, from selling small items at the ladies corner to doing hair and skin work in the parlour section. It’s a small space, but we make the most of it. I opened this because local women needed a place nearby for their hair and beauty stuff. It's easier than going all the way into the city center. We aren't fancy. The chairs are comfortable enough, and we keep everything clean. Most of the women who come in are from the nearby houses in the 282007 area. We talk about the neighborhood and what’s happening in town while we work. It’s a very local feel. We don't use any big words or try to act like a corporate chain. It is just a neighborhood beauty parlour where people feel at ease. Sometimes the electricity acts up, but we manage. Being at the Chauraha means we see everyone passing by. It keeps the day interesting. We just work with what we have and keep the prices where folks can afford them. It is hard work, but seeing a neighbor leave happy makes it worth it. We are just here every day, working.
