Jyoti Beauty Parlours

Our place is tucked away in Dayal Bagh, Agra. If you live around here, you’ve probably walked past Jyoti Beauty Parlours a dozen times without thinking much of it. It’s just a straightforward shop. We’ve been here long enough that we know which floorboards creak. Most of our day is spent handling hair, doing some makeup, or helping someone get ready for a family function. Agra gets quite hot, so we try to keep the place cool for anyone coming in off the dusty roads. It’s not a massive operation. We don’t have a receptionist in a suit; you usually just talk to whoever isn't holding a pair of scissors at the moment. We focus on the work itself. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out with the customers, talking about the local news or the weather. It’s a very human way to run things. We don’t use those big words like "experience" or "luxury." It’s just a parlor. We make sure the towels are clean and the scissors are sharp. People trust us because they’ve known us for years. We see mothers bringing in their daughters, and then years later, those daughters bring their own kids. It is a cycle that keeps us going. We just do what we do, day in and day out, right here in Dayal Bagh. There is nothing more to it than that.
