G. T. Corrugators

Our place, G. T. Corrugators, is at Plot No. 1 in Main Gulab Nagar on Hathras Road. We are in the Foundry Nagar section, quite close to the Canara Bank. This is where all the heavy work happens. We make cardboard boxes and packaging materials. It’s a noisy environment because the machines that crimp and glue the paper are always running. There’s usually a thin layer of paper dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep. Hathras Road is always full of trucks, which is good for us since we have to ship out large bundles of boxes every day. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices. Our office is just a small partitioned corner of the factory floor with a desk that’s seen better days. We’ve been in Foundry Nagar for a long time, and we know most of the other factory owners around Gulab Nagar. The work is repetitive—feeding paper into the rollers and stacking the finished sheets—but it’s honest work. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend half the night fixing it to meet a deadline. We don't mind. It’s just how the business goes. The tea vendor comes around twice a day, and that’s usually the highlight of our afternoon. The roof leaks a tiny bit when the rain is very heavy, so we have to move the paper rolls to the center of the room during the monsoon season.
