Anglo Indian High School

Anglo Indian High School sits right in Halwai Ki Bageechi, specifically in the Kirama Kunj area. It's an old spot in Agra that has been around for quite some time. The building has seen many seasons go by. We don't have fancy glass walls or anything like that. It’s mostly just brick and paint that we touch up ourselves when we can find the time. Every morning the kids come in through the gate and the noise starts up. You can hear the cycle rickshaws and the general bustle outside in Ward-14. Our staff room is a bit cramped, honestly, but we manage to make it work. We’ve got these heavy wooden benches that have been around forever. Sometimes the ceiling fans make a bit of a clicking noise in the summer heat, but nobody really minds. We just focus on getting through the textbooks and the daily lessons. There’s a small tea stall just around the corner where the teachers go for a break sometimes. It’s not a huge place, so you might actually miss it if you aren’t looking for the sign. We spend our days grading papers and talking to the parents who live in the neighborhood. Some families have been sending their kids here for two generations now. It feels more like a part of the local community than some big, cold institution. We try to keep things simple. The playground isn't massive, but it's enough for a quick game. It’s just us doing the work every day.
