Shiv Marble

Our place, Shiv Marble, is located in Village Siyawa, which is pretty close to Abu Road over in the Sirohi district. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the big city centers, but we stay quite busy with the marble. Most days start very early before the sun gets too high because it gets really warm out here in Rajasthan. We have a few guys from the village who come in every morning to help us move the slabs around. It’s heavy work, and you really have to be careful not to chip the edges or drop anything. We don’t have a big fancy showroom with lights or anything like that, just the open space here where we keep our stock. Sometimes people get a bit lost trying to find us since Siyawa is a little tucked away, but once they see the big stacks of stone, they know they’re in the right place. We’ve been here for a good amount of time now. The trucks come and go at all hours, taking the stone out to different parts of the state. It’s a simple life for us. We talk to the neighbors, drink some chai, and make sure the blocks are handled properly. The white dust gets everywhere, on our clothes and even inside the small office, but that’s just part of the trade. We don't spend much time on computers or doing fancy paperwork. Most of our day is spent out in the yard checking what we have.
