Jain Cement House

Wani is the place where we have been for a long time. Jain Cement House is situated right on the Main Road, which is convenient since the Post Office and the Taluka office are just a short walk away. This part of town is always moving with people going about their business. We have a lot of heavy bags to move every day. It’s hard work on the joints, but we are used to it by now. The air around here usually smells like stone and earth. We don't have any fancy air conditioning in the building. We just leave the big front doors open to catch whatever breeze comes down the street. Sometimes a stray dog comes in to sleep in the shade on the concrete floor. We don't mind. The floor stays cool even when it is scorching outside. The people in Wani know our face. We've been at this address for many years. We don't bother with websites or fancy ads. If people need something, they just come down to the Main Road and shout for us. We talk to the farmers and the local guys building their own homes. It’s a lot of the same conversations every day, mostly about the rain or the price of things. We like the routine. It keeps us busy and out of trouble. Sometimes the trucks are late and we just sit and wait. It's a simple way to live.
