Our place is right over at House Number 1-39-5/2, which is just opposite the Paramjyoti Public School in the Kadakatla area of Tadepalligudem. Being in West Godavari district, we are used to the pace of life here in Andhra Pradesh. It’s not like those big city offices you see on TV. Since we are right across from a school, we hear the kids playing and the bells ringing all day long. It kind of keeps us on a schedule. The building itself is more of a house than a formal office. We have desks set up in what used to be living rooms. It’s a bit crowded with all the files and folders we’ve collected over the years, but we know where everything is. We don’t have a big reception desk or a shiny lobby. You just walk in and see whoever is working. Most of us live nearby, so we walk or come on our bikes. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the local paperwork and managing the day-to-day things that come up. It’s honest work, and we don’t feel the need to dress it up with fancy words. We drink a lot of coffee, especially when the afternoons get slow and hot. Sometimes the street gets blocked by school buses, so we have to plan our day around that. It’s just a regular, local spot where we do our bit and then head home to our families.
