Out here in Garobadha, things move a bit slow and that is usually fine by us. Bakrime Agrifed Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically us local farmers trying to figure out a better way to sell what we grow. We set things up at Lackson S Sangma’s place, number 56 in Daronggre. West Garo Hills has always been our home and the soil here is what we know best. We aren’t some big corporation from the city. We are the people you see in the fields every morning before the sun gets too hot. Dealing with the middleman was always a bit of a struggle for us so we thought we should just group up. It makes it easier to buy what we need for the farms too. Sometimes the meetings go long because everyone has a different opinion on how to do things, but we usually figure it out over tea. It’s a lot of work keeping the records straight and making sure everything is legal and official. We are still learning the ropes of the whole company thing. But at the end of the day, it’s about the crops and making sure the hard work pays off for the people living in Daronggre. It’s honest work and we take it one day at a time. No big promises, just a few neighbors trying to help each other out with the farming business. We've had our share of bad seasons where the pests got to the crops before we could, but that is why we stay together.
